The Flying Scotsman

TT2-FSCOT   A6 pack   £3.50 

Perhaps the most well known express passenger train. The service began with the London North Eastern Railway in 1927 and ran from Kings Cross to Edinburgh Waverley. This set comprises of two sizes of carriage boards. The shorter ones were used with LNER Gresley designed stock and the later eleven feet ones are for use with British Railway’s Mark 1 coaching stock. A wide variety of headboards are represented including the Deltic type headboards / thistle.

The Golden Arrow

TT2-GOLD   A6 pack   £3.50

Probably the most iconic of all titled trains, The Golden Arrow was re-introduced by British Railways after the war in April 1946.  In 1951 a new set of Pullmans was built for the train, as part of British Railways' celebration of the Festival of Britain. In 1961, with the Kent Coast electrification scheme, the train became electric-hauled. The last ‘Golden Arrow’ run in September 1972. The set includes all headboard types and Pullman side name boards.

The Granite City

TT2-GRANC   A6 pack   £3.50 

Originally introduced before the Second World War, the title was only re-introduced in 1949 four years after hostilities had ceased. Running between Glasgow and Aberdeen, the train only carried its headboard during the 1950s. However, it also carried a special Scottish Region Coronation headboard during the early summer of 1953. The title was finally withdrawn in 1968.

Heart of Midlothian

TT2-MIDLOTH   A6 pack   £3.50 

Titled for the Festival of Britain in 1951, the service operated between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh Waverley. For one year only in 1957, the service was extended to Perth (the pack does not cover this period). The white headboard was introduced in 1962 and was designed to be carried by diesel traction. The title ceased running in 1968

The Irish Mail

TT2-IMAIL   A6 pack   £3.50 

The title for this train had unofficially existed since the 1840s and connected with sailings from Holyhead. The train only ever had one type of headboard in red (although with have produced one in black - should you wish to use it). The title was officially dropped in the spring of 1985.

The Lakes Express

TT2-LAKES   A6 pack   £3.30

Originally introduced by the London Midland and Scottish Railway in 1927, the service was re-introduced after the War in 1950. The express left London Euston and the Windermere portion was detached at Oxenholme. The rest of the train went on to Penrith where it was reversed and continued along the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith line before terminating at Workington. The train only had one headboard that was introduced in 1951 and although it was rarely used, we have included two for the modeller to choose. The service which ran for the summer timetable only was dropped in 1964.

The Man of Kent

TT2-MKENT   A6 pack   £3.50

This service was introduced in the coronation year of 1953 and ran between London Charing Cross and Margate. The first headboard was the plain black one, this was replaced a couple of years later with the green or black headboards with shields depicting the White Horse of Kent. The titled service was dropped from the timetable in June 1961.

The Master Cutler

TT2-MC   A6 pack   £3.50

The service began in October 1947 and ran between London Marylebone and Sheffield. This set comprises of two sizes of carriage boards. The shorter ones were used with LNER Gresley designed stock and the later eleven feet ones are for use with British Railway’s Mark 1 coaching stock. The service ceased to run in September 1958 when it was replaced by The Master Cutler Pullman.

The Mayflower

TT2-MAY   A6 pack   £3.50 

Introduced by British Railways in 1957, and operating between Paddington and Plymouth, the title originally ran with a plain black headboard. Later in the year it was replaced with the decorative one with a painting of the Pilgrim Fathers’ ship - The Mayflower. It is believed that this was not used after 1963. The title was withdrawn two years later in 1965. Two sets of carriage boards are provided, Western Region started to use the traditional Great Western colour scheme on its stock in the latter years of the 1950s.

The Merseyside Express

TT2-MERSEY   A6 pack   £3.50 

Originally introduced by the London Midland and Scottish Railway in 1928, the service was re-introduced after the War in 1949. The service was dropped from the timetable in 1966. The train had two sets of carriage boards, the grey set featured Liverpool’s famous Liver Birds. The Maroon set was more regularly used.

The Mid-Day Scot

TT2-MDS   A5 pack   £3.50 

Like the Royal Scot, this express running between London and Glasgow was introduced by the London Midland and Scottish Railway in 1927. Similarly it also ceased running for the duration of the Second World War only to be re-introduction in 1949. The headboards with red or light blue backgrounds were introduced in 1951.The express as a titled train last ran in June 1965.

The Midlander

TT2-MIDLAND   A6 pack   £3.50 

Introduced by British Railways in September 1950, The Midlander ran between London Euston and Wolverhampton High Level via the Northampton loop. Although in reality the train only ever had a red headboard, we have included a black one should the modeller wish to use it. Originally the train carried the maroon coach boards, however, as a result of British Railways giving greater autonomy to its regions, new blue coach boards were introduced (with the coat of arms of Birmingham) in June 1956. The service last ran as a titled train in September 1959.

The Night Ferry

TT2-NFERRY   A6 pack   £3.50 

The Night Ferry is perhaps the most unusual of all titled trains that ran in Britain for it hauled Continental coaches in its rake. The Wagon-Lits coaches were reduced in height to meet the British loading gauge. The service was originally introduced in the autumn of 1936 on the completion of the train terry terminals at Dover and Dunkirk. The Wagon-Lits cars were shipped across the channel allowing their first class passengers to remain in their sleeping berths. This pack contains appropriate headboards together with details for coaching stock. The service finally came to an end in 1980.

The Norfolkman

Introduced in 1948, the service ran between Liverpool Street (London) and Norwich until 1962. The shorter carriage boards are for use with LNER Gresley / Thompson designed stock and the longer eleven feet ones are for use with British Railway’s Mark 1 coaching stock.

Introduced by British Railways in 1949, the service ran between Kings Cross and Newcastle until 1964. The shorter carriage boards were used with LNER Gresley designed stock and the later eleven feet ones are for use with British Railway’s Mark 1 coaching stock.
