The Inter-City
TT4-INCITY A5 pack £4.95
Introduced by Western Region of British Railways in 1950, this express ran between London Paddington and Wolverhampton. It first carried a headboard in 1951, this was a plain black one; however, for a few weeks during 1953, the train carried an additional crown and cipher headboard on the occasion of Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation. The more elaborate cast headboard with the coats of arms of London, Birmingham and Wolverhampton was introduced in 1957 and was last carried in 1962. The titled was withdrawn in the summer of 1965.
The Irish Mail
TT4-IMAIL A6 pack £3.95
The title for this train had unofficially existed since the 1840s and connected with sailings from Holyhead. The train only ever had one type of headboard in red (although with have produced one in black - should you wish to use it). The title was officially dropped in the spring of 1985.
The Irishman
TT4-IMAN A6 pack £3.95
Originally introduced by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway in 1933, this titled service ceased at the start of the Second World War. Running between Glasgow and Stranraer Harbour to connect with sailings for Larne in Northern Ireland, the service was re-introduced by British Railways in 1949. In 1958 passenger services on the line were taken over by Diesel Multiple Units and the title was transferred to a DMU; no evidence of the train carrying a headboard can be found after this date. The title was dropped in March 1967.
The Kentish Belle
TT4-KENTBEL A6 pack £3.95
The Kentish Belle was born out of the Thanet Belle when British Railways decided to widen the scope of the train’s service to include a portion for Canterbury. This summer only Pullman service operated from 1951, however, the portion for Canterbury was dropped after only one year. The title continued until 1958 when the Kent Coast line was electrified. The large red headboards were used at the beginning to be replaced by the rectangular green Type 8 boards in 1953
The Lakes Express
TT4-LAKES A6 pack £3.95
Originally introduced by the London Midland and Scottish Railway in 1927, the service was re-introduced after the War in 1950. The express left London Euston and the Windermere portion was detached at Oxenholme. The rest of the train went on to Penrith where it was reversed and continued along the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith line before terminating at Workington. The train only had one headboard that was introduced in 1951 and although it was rarely used, we have included two for the modeller to choose. The service which ran for the summer timetable only was dropped in 1964.
The Lancastrian
TT4-LANCAST A6 pack £3.95
Running between London Euston and Manchester London Road (later Piccadilly) this titled train was originally introduced by the London Midland and Scottish Railway in 1928. The service was suspended at the beginning of the Second World War and was only re-introduced by British Railways in 1957. It last ran as a titled train in September 1962. The train only ever carried one red headboard.
The Man of Kent
TT4-MKENT A6 pack £3.95
This service was introduced in the coronation year of 1953 and ran between London Charing Cross and Margate. The first headboard was the plain black one, this was replaced a couple of years later with the green or black headboards with shields depicting the White Horse of Kent. The titled service was dropped from the timetable in June 1961.
The Mancunian

Originally introduced by the London Midland and Scottish Railway in 1927, the service was re-introduced after the War in 1949. The service was dropped from the timetable in 1966. The train had two sets of carriage boards, the blue set featured the coats of arms of London and Manchester. The Maroon set was more regularly used
The Manxman

The London Midland and Scottish Railway originally introduced this service in 1927; the train was re-introduced by British Railways after the War in 1951. The service operated for the summer timetable only and ran in conjunction with sailings from Liverpool to the Isle of Man. The titled service was dropped from the timetable in 1966
The Master Cutler
TT4-MC A6 pack £3.95
The service began in October 1947 and ran between London Marylebone and Sheffield. This set comprises of two sizes of carriage boards. The shorter ones were used with LNER Gresley designed stock and the later eleven feet ones are for use with British Railway’s Mark 1 coaching stock. The service ceased to run in September 1958 when it was replaced by The Master Cutler Pullman.
The Master Cutler Pullman
TT4-MCPULL A6 pack £3.95
The Master Cutler service was introduced by the London North Eastern Railway in 1947 and ran between Sheffield and Kings Cross. It continued to run with ordinary coaching stock until 1958 when it was replaced as a luxury Pullman car express. The titled train last ran on 4 October 1968.
The Mayflower

Introduced by British Railways in 1957, and operating between Paddington and Plymouth, the title originally ran with a plain black headboard. Later in the year it was replaced with the decorative one with a painting of the Pilgrim Fathers’ ship - The Mayflower. It is believed that this was not used after 1963. The title was withdrawn two years later in 1965. Two sets of carriage boards are provided, Western Region started to use the traditional Great Western colour scheme on its stock in the latter years of the 1950s.
The Merchant Venturer
TT4-MERCH A5 pack £4.95
Introduced by British Railways in 1951 for the Festival of Britain and operating between Paddington and the West Country, the title originally ran with a plain black headboard. The white headboard with black lettering was introduced in 1956 prior to the introduction of the decorative one with the coat of arms of the Society of Merchant Venturers. At the same time the cream coach boards with italic font replaced the standard maroon ones. The title was withdrawn in September 1961.
The Merseyside Express

Originally introduced by the London Midland and Scottish Railway in 1928, the service was re-introduced after the War in 1949. The service was dropped from the timetable in 1966. The train had two sets of carriage boards, the grey set featured Liverpool’s famous Liver Birds. The Maroon set was more regularly used.
The Mid-Day Scot
TT4-MDS A6 pack £3.95
Like the Royal Scot, this express running between London and Glasgow was introduced by the London Midland and Scottish Railway in 1927. Similarly it also ceased running for the duration of the Second World War only to be re-introduction in 1949. The headboards with red or light blue backgrounds were introduced in 1951.The express as a titled train last ran in June 1965.
The Midlander
TT4-MIDLAND A5 pack £4.95
Introduced by British Railways in September 1950, The Midlander ran between London Euston and Wolverhampton High Level via the Northampton loop. Although in reality the train only ever had a red headboard, we have included a black one should the modeller wish to use it. Originally the train carried the maroon coach boards, however, as a result of British Railways giving greater autonomy to its regions, new blue coach boards were introduced (with the coat of arms of Birmingham) in June 1956. The service last ran as a titled train in September 1959.
