Introduced by Western Region of British Railways in 1950, this express ran between London Paddington and Wolverhampton. It first carried a headboard in 1951, this was a plain black one; however, for a few weeks during 1953, the train carried an additional crown and cipher headboard on the occasion of Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation. The more elaborate cast headboard with the coats of arms of London, Birmingham and Wolverhampton was introduced in 1957 and was last carried in 1962. The titled was withdrawn in the summer of 1965
