Introduced by the Western Region of British Railways in 1951 for the Festival of Britain and operating between Paddington and the Midlands, The William Shakespeare only ran for a few months. The train worked out of Paddington and at Leamington Spa a four coach train portion was detached for Stratford Upon Avon with the rest of the train continuing to Wolverhampton.
