Introduced by the Great Western Railway in 1927 this train ran from Paddington to North Wales. There were two portions with the train dividing at Machynlleth from where the Pwllheli section continued up the coast and the remaining portion continued to Aberystwyth. The title was suspended for the duration of the Second World War, only to be re-introduced by British Railways in 1951.
